8David asked the high priests and the captain of the army to persuade the people of Judah to bring King David back to his place (vv. 11-15). He sent word to 15 Zadok and Abiathar, saying, "Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, seeing that the word of all Israel has come to the king at his house? You are my brothers; you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring the king back?" (vv. 11-12).
